Michigan Government Television - Case Study
Michelle Webb, Operations Manager
"If anyone knows how frustrating old desktops and outdated software is, it's us. Our desktops were so old, it took at least ten minutes to boot up every morning. Only one desktop was able to scan-to-file, which made for an interesting workflow process. On top of that, we were on an older version of Microsoft Office. The combination of our aging devices and software made our working environment very haphazard and slow, to say the least.
CBI had already been providing us with print/copy solutions for over ten years. So when we began looking for a new technology provider, it made complete sense to hand over our IT work to them. They replaced all of our old desktops with new, fast devices that were all capable of scan-to-file. They also upgraded our Microsoft Office! Our staff is more productive now, having better resources available to them.
The best thing about CBI though, is that I have one technology provider who can take care of my desktops, software and print needs. They are reliable and fantastic people to work with."
The Challenge
Michigan Government Television (MGTV) was in dire need of new desktop devices. Their staff was experiencing some very unproductive work days due to the devices being incredibly slow. The desktops were unreliable and performed very poorly. Only one desktop was able to scan-to-file, leaving one staff member with the sole responsibility of managing the scan-to-file tasks. Their software applications were also very outdated which contributed to the functionality of the devices.
Since MGTV is located in a high-security government building, having quick access to their office to fix desktops/software issues was not easily available. They needed an alternative solution and needed to be off of their break-fix contract.
The Solution
We replaced all of MGTV's aging devices with new Dell desktops. They new desktops were configured to be able to work cohesively with the Kyocera print devices. Every staff member is now able to scan-to-file. Each desktop also has the capability for remote access, allowing our Applications and Systems team members to jump onto the desktops remotely and troubleshoot any issues. Each desktop also receives proactive security updates, keeping each device healthy. Through our Software-as-a-Service model, MGTV was able to easily upgrade their Microsoft Office applications without breaking the bank.
